Thursday, January 23, 2014 | 8:54 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — Two men forced their way into a south Columbia home Thursday morning and demanded money from the two people inside, according to a Columbia Police Department media release.

The two victims — a male and a female, both 18 years old — said they were in their home on North Cedar Lake Drive East when they heard someone knocking on the door at 10 a.m., according to the release.

When they went to the door, two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, forced their way into the home and assaulted the male victim. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money from the victims, but neither victim was injured, according to the release.

The victims described the suspects as men who are black and about 5 feet 10 inches tall. The suspect armed with a handgun was described as weighing 250 pounds, the other weighing 150 pounds.

The Columbia Police Department asks anyone with information to call the department's nonemergency number at 442-6131 or Crime Stoppers at 875-8477.
