Bill Harris enjoyed time at country club, traveling with his wife

COLUMBIA — William "Bill" Harris of Columbia died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Lenoir Woods in Columbia. He was 88.

William David Harris Sr. was born July 28, 1925, in Jefferson City to Paul and Phyllis Harris.

He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946. He was an MU graduate. He married Juliet Scott on June 9, 1950.

He was a member of the Country Club of Missouri and enjoyed golf, poker and playing card games with his friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Columbia.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Juliet; two children, David Harris Jr. and his wife, Denise, and Frances Harris, both of Columbia; two sisters-in-law, Sue Hukari of Atlanta and Sally Ledbetter of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Kara Harris, Lindsey Harris and William "Trey" Harris, all of Columbia; and one great-grandchild, Kylin Byndom of Columbia.

A daughter-in-law, Kyle Harris, and a sister died earlier.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
