FROM READERS: Up close with a bald eagle at Eagle Bluffs

Wednesday, January 29, 2014 | 6:00 a.m. CST
Reader Robert Behne took this photo Jan. 25 at Eagle Bluffs. Although Behne has been photographing at Eagle Bluffs for many years, this encounter was the closest he had even gotten to a bald eagle.

Robert Behne has been taking pictures at Eagle Bluffs for many years. His mother was the first person to show the area to him two decades ago. After she passed away in 2005, Behne spread some of her ashes in the Missouri River at Eagle Bluffs.

Behne stopped by the newsroom to share these photos that he took on Saturday at Eagle Bluffs using a Canon Rebel T2I.

He said that this encounter was the closest he had ever gotten to a bald eagle.

This story is part of a section of the Missourian called From Readers, which is dedicated to your voices and your stories. We hope you'll consider sharing. Here's how. Supervising editor is Joy Mayer.
