Steve “Murk” Graves, 61, of Sturgeon passed away January 28, 2014 peacefully at his home.
Steve was born October 31, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA, to Gene Earl Graves and Eleanor Ray.
Known by friends and family as simply “Murk”, Steve worked as a driller/blaster for more than 30 years and has been employed by Con-Agg of MO, LLC. for the past ten. Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors and was a staunch supporter of conservation efforts to maintain Missouri’s wildlife, forests and streams. He enjoyed boating and fishing on Missouri’s rivers and traveling with his wife.
Steve married Jennifer Thornton Graves on February 20, 1997.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Gene Graves.
Survivors include his wife Jennifer; mother Eleanor Ray, brother Tracey Graves, and daughter Susan Graves of Bakersfield, CA; daughter Barbara Graves of Ashland, MO, and grandchildren Kellie Atkin of Eldon, MO; Sydney Everson of New Jersey, and CJ and Braxton Everson of Beverly Hills, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to True North of Columbia, Inc., P.O. Box 1367, Columbia, MO 65205 or the Salvation Army, 1108 West Ash, Columbia, MO 65203. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home from 11:00 am-1:00pm Sunday, February 2, with services following at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
