Steve 'Murk' Graves was a passionate hunter, fisherman

COLUMBIA — Steve Graves of Sturgeon died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. He was 61.

Mr. Graves was born Oct. 31, 1952, in Los Angeles to Gene Earl Graves and Eleanor Ray. He married Jennifer Thornton on Feb. 20, 1997.

Mr. Graves worked as a driller and blaster for more than 30 years. He worked for Con-Agg of MO, LLC, for the past 10 years.

Mr. Graves was an avid hunter and fisherman with a passion for the outdoors and wildlife. He enjoyed boating and fishing on Missouri's rivers. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife. Mr. Graves was affectionately known by family and friends as "Murk."

His father, Gene Graves, died earlier.

Mr. Graves is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his mother, Eleanor Ray; a brother, Tracey Graves; two daughters, Susan Graves of Bakersfield, Calif., and Barbara Graves of Ashland; four grandchildren, Kellie Atkin of Eldon, Sydney Everson of New Jersey, and CJ and Braxton Everson of Beverly Hills, Fla.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
