Battle boys basketball team wins first game of Eldon tournament

The Battle boys basketball team improved to 4-12 on the season with a 98-85 win over Eldon on Thursday night in the 83rd Annual Eldon Invitational Tournament.

The host team of the tournament came back in the fourth quarter to tie Battle at 78-78 after trailing for most of the game. The Mustangs scored 21 points in the final quarter to force the game into overtime.

The Spartans rallied in overtime and went on to score 20 points while limiting Eldon to just 7 in the extra period.

Battle's next game will be 9 p.m. Friday in the next round of the tournament.
