COLUMBIA — Strong performances from juniors Laura Kappler and Rachel Updike provided a boost to the Missouri gymnastics team at North Carolina State on Saturday night, but the Tigers narrowly missed out on their first victory of the season in a 194.675 - 194.525 loss to the Wolfpack.

Updike and Kappler competed in all four events, compiling all-around scores of 39.175 and 39.125, respectively. Updike took first in vault with a score of 9.900, the only Tiger on the night to win an event outright.

Freshman Angie Kern shined on the floor in Raleigh, N.C., scoring a personal best 9.825 in the event. Kappler matched her personal best on the bar with a score of 9.800 and achieved a new personal record on the floor with a score of 9.750.
