UPDATE: Interstate 70 mostly reopened near Lake of the Woods exit

Tuesday, February 4, 2014 | 1:05 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — Eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 and one westbound lane have reopened after an accident involving semi-trucks shut down the highway near the Lake of the Woods Exit.

Conditions on the highway are hazardous, and the Boone County Fire Protection District asked drivers to stay off the highway Tuesday.

Accidents have stymied traffic on I-70 near Columbia for most of Tuesday.

Earlier Tuesday morning, both westbound lanes of the highway were closed shortly before 8 a.m. at the Missouri River Bridge. The highway was reopened within an hour.
