COLUMBIA — Junior Missouri wrestler Drake Houdashelt can add another notch to his list of accolades this season, maintaining his No. 1 national ranking at 149 pounds for another week and claiming Mid-American Conference honors.

On Wednesday afternoon, the MAC announced that Houdashelt was the conference's Wrestler of the Week. Last week, Houdashelt collected two top-10 wins over No. 2 Kendric Maple (Oklahoma) and No. 7 Josh Kindig (Oklahoma State).

This is the second time this season that Houdashelt has collected MAC honors and the third time in his career.

Houdashelt toppled Maple on Thursday night in Norman, Okla., by a score of 3-2, aiding the Tigers in a 18-15 upset over the No. 6 Sooners. The following night, Houdashelt picked up his third win of the season against Kindig by way of a 4-0 decision.

His 27 wins are tied for the lead among Tiger grapplers this year, with a team-leading 17 victories coming in bonus point territory.

Freshman 197-pounder J'den Cox was a MAC Wrestler of the Week nominee this week after an impressive 6-1 decision over Oklahoma's Travis Rutt, ranked No. 3 in his weight class.

Both Houdashelt and Cox helped in rising the Tigers from No. 10 to No. 9 in the national rankings.

Missouri will be back in action Friday at the Hearnes Center against Buffalo. The dual is part of Missouri's annual Beauty and the Beast event, with Missouri gymnastics competing simultaneously.
