Missouri softball to kick off season with Black & Gold game

Thursday, February 6, 2014 | 6:20 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — The Missouri softball team will start its season with the annual intrasquad Black & Gold Exhibition Game at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Devine Practice Facility.

The Tigers are ranked No. 14 in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I preseason poll and No. 17 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 preseason poll. They finished last season 38-14 overall and 15-8 in the Southeastern Conference, advancing to the program's sixth consecutive NCAA Super Regional appearance.

Missouri welcomes back eight players with starting experience. Eight new players joined the team, as well, including four pitchers — freshmen Tori Finucane, Casey Stangel and Jordan Zolman and senior Alora Marble.

Fans attending the game are asked to park across Providence Road in Memorial Stadium's west parking lots and cross the bridge to Devine Practice Facility. They should enter through the doors off the road between Devine Practice Facility and the Mizzou Athletics Training Complex.
