Mary Dowling, Nov. 1, 1935 — Feb. 4, 2014, worked as a nurse for more than 20 years

Mary Kathryn Dowling, 78, of Columbia, MO entered into rest Tuesday, February 4, 2014.

She was born November 1, 1935, to the late Parker and Lillian (Leight) Adams. Mary was united in marriage on December 28, 1957, in House Springs, MO to James John Dowling, Jr.

Mary was a registered nurse and retired from Missouri State School and Hospital after more than two decades. She travelled around the world raising four children with her husband who was an Officer in the United States Air Force.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, February 7, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia, MO. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the church. Burial will take place Monday, February 10, 2014 in Higginsville Veteran Cemetery.

Mary is survived by her children: Mary Margaret Halliburton (Michael) of Columbia, MO, James Parker Dowling (Mary) of Indianapolis, IN, Kathleen Rene Dowling of Columbia, MO, and Michael Sean Dowling (Karin) of Santa Rosa, CA; siblings: John Adams (Michelle) of Denver, CO, and Virginia Rustia-Dione (Duane) of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren: Amanda Morris (William) of Indianapolis, IN, Christopher Robert Dowling (Miranda) of Columbia, MO, Dominique Marie Brown (Michael) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Thomas Michael Teel of Harrisburg, MO, Kenneth Michael Halliburton of Ashland, MO, Jazzlyn Dowling, Adam Dowling and David Dowling, all of Santa Rosa, CA; nine great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ellie Dowling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James, and brother-in-law, Jack.
