COLUMBIA — Columbia Public Schools will remain closed Friday — the seventh closure this year, district spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark said.

Baumstark said all six of the district's drive teams reported hazardous conditions on bus routes Thursday.

The district deemed Creasy Springs Road, Wade School Road, Sinclair Road and Business Loop 70 unsafe for school buses, Baumstark said.

"We have to think about all 18,000 students," Baumstark said. "It would be irresponsible to risk the safety of our students and staff if we can prevent that."

The district will now end the school year June 5. It will extend the school year one day for every two subsequent closings, Baumstark said.

Supervising editor is Adam Aton.
