Polly Anna Dunavant was a prolific painter

COLUMBIA — Polly Anna Dunavant of Columbia died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014. She was 87.

She was born in Boone County to Elijah Samuel and Sara Alice Strange on May 21, 1926.

She married Homer Lewis Dunavant of Fulton in 1943.

Mrs. Dunavant attended a one-room schoolhouse when she was younger. She was a member of the 4-H Youth Development Organization and the Girl Scouts, eventually becoming a Campfire Girl Leader.

She graduated from Hickman High School. She attended many painting classes at Columbia and Stephens colleges, and she was a member of the Columbia Art League.

Private services are planned.
