JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich said two former U.S. senators will be helping his re-election campaign.

The Republican auditor said Tuesday that former Sens. John Danforth and Jim Talent will be honorary co-chairmen, with state Sen. John Lamping serving as campaign chairman.

Schweich also released a list of about a dozen other prominent Republicans who will serve as honorary co-chairs of his campaign. He said he has hired American Viewpoint to do his polling and will use FP1 Strategies to handle his campaign commercials. Donor Sam Fox will be his finance chairmen and Karen Mohan Day will be his fundraising consultant.

So far, Schweich has no announced opponents from either the Republican or Democratic parties.

The official candidacy filing period begins Feb. 25 and runs through March 25.
