Full text:

Jefferson Middle School is a sixth- through eighth-grade school located in northwest Columbia.

The school was founded in 1911 and was intended to be a high school. When Hickman High School opened in 1927, however, Jefferson became a junior high school. In 2013, Jefferson Junior High School became Jefferson Middle School, and one of Columbia's six middle schools.

The technology education department at Jefferson is notable for receiving a number of Columbia Public Schools Foundation grants, including the Carpe Diem grant and the Building Intelligent Robots grant.

The school’s mission is that Jefferson Middle School students will be academically, technologically and socially prepared for high school.
