Paul Vemer Short, Oct. 12. 1917-Feb. 13, 2014

COLUMBIA — Paul Vemer Short passed away at the age of 96 on February 13th, 2014 in the presence of his family at Lenoir Woods Home.

Paul was born on October 12th, 1917, to Edgar and Ila Vemer Short, and they preceded him in death. His brother Robert and sister-in-law Evalyn also preceded him in death.

He is survived buy his wife of 72 years, Darlene Wren Short. They have 3 children, Emily Wisley of Coopers Plains, New York, Marilyn Holland and husband Jim of Aurora, Colorado and Mark Short and wife Ann of Overland Park, Kansas. They have 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Paul spent his early life as a dairy farmer in central Boone County. He also was a deacon at Little Bonne Femme Church and was on the Board of Education at New Haven School District.

His later work in life was spent as a carpenter at Stephens College. After retiringhe enjoyed making furniture and other wood items. Much of the furniture was made from trees that he cut from his land.

Paul loved to laugh and joke and will be missed by family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014, at Goshen Primitive Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m., with burial following in Goshen Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior.

Arrangements are under the directions of Robinson Funeral Home.
