COLUMBIA — Oscar Contreras, 26, was arrested at 9 p.m. Tuesday on charges of first-degree statutory sodomy and endangering the welfare of a child.

The female victim, 7, had no family or other relationship with Contreras, said Latisha Stroer, Columbia Police public information officer. The bond has yet to be set for the sodomy charge. The bond for the endangering the welfare of a child charge stands at $4,500.

Contreras was held at the Boone County Jail while the Columbia Police investigated a report of statutory sodomy that occurred between Sunday evening and Monday morning at the area of his residence in the 2200 block of Grace Ellen Drive. Columbia Police arrested him at the jail for the sodomy charge.

Contreras was arrested at his residence Monday night with a federal warrant for failure to appear for deportation with no bond set. Stroer said Contreras is originally from El Salvador.
