COLUMBIA — A Columbia man pleaded guilty to crimes he committed in Ohio after he escaped from a northwest Missouri jail.

Twenty-four-year-old Brian J. Adkison pleaded guilty Wednesday in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, to receiving stolen property, failure to comply with an officer's order and petty theft. He was sentenced to two years in jail.

Adkison escaped from the Caldwell County Jail in August by crawling through the ceiling in his cell. He was facing charges of burglary, rape and sexual assault in Boone County, as well as kidnapping, inflicting injury and terrorizing a woman in Caldwell County.

The St. Joseph News-Leader reported that Adkison was arrested last September after a police chase in Westlake, a Cleveland suburb.

Boone County officials will now determine if Adkison will be brought back to Missouri.
