No.16 Missouri softball falls to No. 15 Baylor

COLUMBIA — The No. 16 Missouri softball team fell to No. 15 Baylor 3-2 in the Tigers' second game of the Mary Nutter Classic on Thursday in Cathedral City, Calif.

It was Missouri's second loss to Baylor, after losing to them last weekend at Baylor's Getterman Classic. Missouri's record stands at 5-2.

Junior first baseman Kelsea Roth was the first runner on base for the Tigers after hitting a double in the second inning. Freshman catcher Kirsten Mack drove in Roth with a double of her own to give Missouri a 1-0 lead.

Baylor scored three runs in the fourth inning, but Missouri fought back in the fifth. Sophomore shortstop Sami Fagan hit another double for the Tigers, scoring sophomore outfielder Taylor Gadbois to bring the score to 3-2.

Freshman pitcher Casey Stangel took the loss for Missouri, pitching six innings, allowing nine hits and two earned runs.

The Tigers continue the Mary Nutter Classic against Fordham at 5:30 p.m. and San Diego State at 10:30 p.m. today.
