The Battle High School boys basketball team defeated Mid Buchanan on Friday night by a score of 62-56. Both teams overcame a slow start with Battle finishing strong to close out their fifth win of the season.
Battle scored just eight points to Mid Buchanan's seven in the first quarter. The teams picked up the tempo in the second quarter and went into halftime with Battle ahead, 34-27.
Mid Buchanan outscored the Spartans in the third quarter and led by two points going into the final frame. Battle found their rhythm in the fourth quarter, however, outscoring Mid Buchanan, 24-16.
The Spartans were lead by sophomore guard Trey Smith, who scored 26 points, and freshman standout Daviante Ostrander, who added another 18.
Battle takes on cross-town rivals Rock Bridge at home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
