Missouri swimmers break school records at SEC championships

The Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams broke two school records and posted three top-seven finishes in the fourth day of the 2014 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

The men's team jumped from seventh to fourth in the team standings at the competition with 572 points. The Missouri women's team sits in eighth place with 378.5 points.

Senior David Bonuchi, junior Sam Tierney and senior Mark Conroy all earned top-seven finishes. Bonuchi finished fourth on the platform, Tierney finished fifth in the 100-meter breast stroke and Conroy placed seventh in the 100-meter breast stroke. 

Freshman Katharine Ross in the 100-meter breast stroke and junior Andrew Phillips in the 200-meter fly both broke school records.

Final day preliminary competition at the SEC Championships begins 9 a.m. Saturday.
