Memorial services for Columbia firefighter Lt. Bruce Britt set for Thursday

COLUMBIA — Memorial services for Columbia Fire Department's Lt. Bruce Britt have been scheduled for Thursday at The Crossing in Columbia. Britt died Saturday when a walkway collapsed at University Village apartments.
Britt began his 23-year career with the Fire Department May 21, 1990 and was a member of the department's hazardous materials and technical rescue team.
He died while helping evacuate residents of the apartment complex early Saturday morning. He is the first Columbia firefighter to be killed in the line of duty since 1986.
The memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at The Crossing, 3615 Southland Drive.
