Missouri women's tennis loses to South Carolina in 1st SEC matchup

Friday, February 28, 2014 | 9:40 p.m. CST

The Missouri women's tennis team lost its Southeastern Conference opener against No. 42 South Carolina 6-1 on Friday at USC Field House in Columbia, S.C.

Senior Rachel Stuhlmann recorded the team's only point with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Brigit Folland at No. 3 singles. Stuhlmann's third consecutive win came against the No. 85 player in the country, but the rest of match play gave little to the Tigers (4-7, 0-1 SEC) as South Carolina (10-2, 1-0) ran away with straight-set wins in all but No. 1 singles.

Missouri will face No. 5 Florida at 1 p.m. Sunday in its second SEC match.
