Battle girls basketball wins first game at district playoffs

In its first postseason game as a program, the Battle girls basketball team defeated Roosevelt (St. Louis) on Tuesday in the opening round of the Class 4, District 4 tournament, 69-24, at Bishop DuBourg High School in St. Louis.

Battle (9-15) took control of the game early and held the lead throughout. The loss ended the season for Roosevelt.

Battle junior Cheyanna Weaver led the team in scoring with 15 points and freshman Maya Mouton added 13 points and had eight rebounds .

The win advances Battle to the second round, where it will face tournament hosts Bishop DuBourg at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
