Friday, March 14, 2014 | 5:54 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — After 19 years of serving as Boone County collector of revenue, Pat Lensmeyer will not run for re-election in November.

During her time in office, changes at the collector's office included the option to pay taxes with major credit cards and for taxpayers to update their address online, according to her biography on the county's website.

Lensmeyer is in charge of collecting current and delinquent county property taxes, as well as collecting special assessments for improvement districts and certain fees. Other responsibilities include accounting and distributing collections to tax entities, according to the collector's office website.

Lensmeyer decided to withdraw her candidacy for personal reasons so she can live at a more relaxed pace, according to a release from the Boone County Commission.

The filing deadline for others interested in pursuing the office of Boone County collector of revenue is 5 p.m. March 25.

Supervising editor is Allie Hinga.
