Juliet Scott Harris, Feb. 19, 1928 — March 14, 2014, of Columbia

COLUMBIA — Juliet Scott Harris, 86, of Columbia, MO, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014.

She was born in Murfreesboro, TN on February 19, 1928, to the late Frances (Beaden) and George Harry Scott.

Juliet married William D. Harris, Sr. on June 9, 1951 at First Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro, TN. They enjoyed 63 years together.

Juliet enjoyed playing bridge and knitting. She volunteered at University Hospital for several years. Juliet was an alumni of Stephens College in Columbia, MO. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. Juliet was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her children: Frances Harris of Columbia, MO, and William David Harris Jr. (wife, Denise) of Columbia, MO; siblings: Harry “Brother” Scott of Memphis, TN, Sally Ledbetter (husband, Billy) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Sue Hukari of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Kara Harris (fiancé, Chris) of Columbia, MO, William “Trey” Harris III of Fulton, MO, Lindsey Harris (fiancé, Sharron) of Columbia, MO; and great-grandchild, Kylin Byndom of Columbia, MO.

Juliet was preceded in death by her loving husband, William D. Harris, Sr, daughter-in-law, Kyle Harris, sister-in-law, Mary Kay Scott; brother-in-law, Dick Hukari, and her parents.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice Compassus.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Lenoir Woods Health Care (Winwood wing), and to the nurses of Hospice Compassus.
