Monday, March 17, 2014 | 10:10 p.m. CDT

The Stephens College softball team had a rough night.

The Stars (2-9) were shut out in each game of a doubleheader against William Woods University (15-8). Stephens lost the first game 13-0 and the second 8-0.

William Woods pitcher MacKenzie Bowden faced nine Stephens College batters and struck out all of them to start the first game. William Woods led 9-0 by the end of the third inning when Bowden stepped off the mound. Stephens recorded one hit in the fifth inning to spoil the no-hitter.

In the second game, William Woods led 6-0 by the end of the second. The Stars made better contact at the plate, recording four hits.

Stephens hosts another home doubleheader Tuesday against No. 22 Park University. The first game will begin at 2 p.m. Stephens plays its home games at American Legion.
