COLUMBIA — Frankie May (Miller) Calvert of Columbia died Saturday, March 22, 2014. She was 92.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1922, in Shattuck, Okla.
Mrs. Calvert was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church. She was also a Cub Scouts den mother, a Camp Fire Boys and Girls sponsor and a community volunteer.
She graduated from Gage High School, where she was a member of the marching band. In 1940, she enrolled at Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University, and graduated four years later with a bachelor's degree in home economics. Later that year, she married Oscar Calvert.
Mrs. Calvert lived in Budapest, Hungary, from 1969 to 1970 and Suwon, South Korea, in 1978.
Mrs. Calvert is survived by her children, Kerry Calvert (Susan), of Portland, Ore.; Janet Sampson (Alan), Linda Landry (Hank) and Tracy Calvert (Rhonda), all of Columbia; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Oscar, died earlier.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at First Presbyterian Church, 16 Hitt St. A reception will follow.
