Columbia track teams open season

COLUMBIA — The Columbia College track and field teams competed at the Washington University Invitational on Friday to open their outdoor season.

The top performance came from Lindsey Martin, who finished ninth in the 1,500 meters. Martin's time was 4 minutes, 50 seconds.

Martin also took 22nd in the 800 meters in 2:24. Her teammate Julia Montgomery led the Cougars in that event taking 20th place also with a time of 2:24.

Devin Sander had a strong day for the Columbia men as he was 23rd in the 1,500 meters. Sander's time was 4:05.

Columbia's next meet is Friday, April 11, at the Missouri Relays.
