COLUMBIA — Fr. Tolton Catholic Regional High School freshman forward Michael Porter Jr. earned a scholarship offer from Tom Crean and the Indiana Hoosiers on Friday.

It was the first offer for Porter, the No. 3 prospect in the class of 2017 according to Future150.com, a recruiting website. The 6-foot-6 recruit led the Trailblazers varsity squad with 28 points per game and was a Missouri Basketball Coaches Association first-team all-state selection in Class 2 as Tolton went on to a state quarterfinals appearance and 20-8 record this season.

Porter was in Kansas City on Saturday with his Amateur Athletic Union team and confirmed the news, but noted Indiana was not his first offer and that Missouri had offered the freshman “a couple months ago.”

Porter is an Indianapolis native. His dad, Michael Porter Sr., is an assistant coach for the Missouri women’s basketball team.
