FROM READERS: Ignorant remarks about immigrants anger and offend

Monday, April 7, 2014 | 6:00 a.m. CDT

In my blog post, while I think I made it clear that I was angered by the girls' remarks, her statements also affected me on a personal level. My parents are immigrants from Bangladesh. It disappoints me when people make ignorant remarks towards newcomers to our country because I think about how hard my parents worked to establish themselves here in America.

They now hold respected jobs and do their best to provide for me every single day. To me, they exemplify the American Dream. People should show more respect towards immigrants or visitors to America because they deserve the opportunity to flourish just like anyone else in this great nation.
