The Missourian Minute is a regular series of scenes from around mid-Missouri. These visual slices of life capture the sights and sounds of people and the activities they love.

COLUMBIA — Dog Jog 2014 took place Saturday at the MU College of Veterinary Medicine.

The event was sponsored by the Pre-Vet Club and the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Around 180 participants pre-registered for the 5K run and 2.5K walk, said Alicia Tutino, 24, co-chair of the Dog Jog.

All proceeds will go to the Central Missouri Humane Society, she said.

Some of the more furry participants included Hurley, a 1-year-old bulldog; Honeh-Girl, a 3-year-old mastiff mix; Bear, a 10-year-old German shepherd and husky mix; and Caribou, a 6-year-old beagle.

Supervising editor is Derek Poore.
