Missouri All-American to speak about experience as gay athlete

COLUMBIA — Missouri alumnus Greg DeStephen is scheduled to speak Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the Reynolds Alumni Center. The event is free and open to the public.

DeStephen was the first openly gay Missouri athlete when he came out in 2008 in a story on the website DeStephen was a diver at Missouri from 2006 to 2010. He earned All-American honors four times during his Tiger career.

DeStephen is a college recruiter for accounting firm Ernst & Young.

His visit is co-sponsored by the Missouri Alumni Association, MU athletics department and Triangle Coalition.
