Columbia College softball claims two shutout victories

COLUMBIA — Columbia College's softball team did not allow a run in 11 innings of doubleheader action Friday at Hannibal-LaGrange.

The first game was an 8-0 win in six innings, and Columbia College took Game 2 9-0 in five innings.

Paxton Welch was the winning pitcher in Game 1, and she allowed no runs on two hits. The second shutout came from Amber Boehme in a five-inning, one-hit performance.

Columbia College is now 20-11 overall, 12-2 in the American Midwest Conference.

The Cougars' next doubleheader starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at Benedictine University-Springfield.
