Sheriff's department investigates armed robbery in southwest Columbia

COLUMBIA — Three people were robbed at gunpoint late Friday night in southwest Columbia.

The victims were standing outside their vehicle in the area of Bellview Drive and Bethany Drive when six men approached them, according to a Boone County Sheriff’s Department news release Sunday morning.

Three of the men took out handguns and then stole items from the victims. The victims were not injured, and the perpetrators fled on foot. Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene around 11:10 p.m.

The perpetrators were described as younger men, possibly in their teens, wearing dark-colored hoodies and black jeans.
