COLUMBIA — Columbia College softball won both games in a doubleheader against Stephens College on Tuesday.

The two teams played April 8, but the game was called off after the first inning because of weather. At the time, Columbia College led 3-2. The first game of the doubleheader resumed in the second inning where the postponed game stopped.

The Cougars did not let the Stars hang around. Columbia College knocked in 17 more runs, 10 of which came in the third inning, to claim a 20-3 win that ended in five innings.

Carly Spalding led the Cougars with four RBIs in the first game of the day.

The second game featured fewer runs but ended in five innings as well. The Cougars jumped out early with two runs in the first inning. Columbia College built a steady lead, scoring on the Stars in every inning.

Columbia College claimed the sweep with a 10-2 win. The Cougars have won 13 of their last 14 games and are tied for first place in the American Midwest Conference.
