Missouri softball's Tori Finucane named top 25 finalist for National Freshman of the Year

COLUMBIA — Missouri freshman pitcher Tori Finucane was named a top 25 finalist for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's Division I National Freshman of the Year award.
Finucane has a 1.86 ERA in 127 2/3 innings and has a 14-5 record this season. She pitched shutout wins for Missouri against then-No. 14 Arizona (2-0) on Feb. 20 and then-No. 13 Texas A&M (7-0) on March 7.
Finucane has six wins in Southeastern Conference play, which ranks fifth-best among all pitchers. She also was named SEC Pitcher of the Week after throwing 16 strikeouts in 14 innings against Mississippi State on April 4 and 5.
The NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year award is in its first season. The top 10 finalists will be announced May 8, and the top three will be announced May 22. The award will be presented May 27 prior to the opening of the NCAA Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.
