COLUMBIA — A former Columbia resident was sentenced Monday to four years in prison for attempted statutory sodomy and attempted sexual misconduct involving a child.

Shaun Dierker, 28, pleaded guilty to the charges Feb. 18, according to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release.

Dierker began an email conversation with an undercover detective in the Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force — whom he believed was a 14-year-old boy — on Dec. 11, 2012, according to the release.

They continued their conversation in text messages. He sent the detective sexually explicit pictures of himself and arranged to meet. They set the meeting for Dec. 15, 2012, at a local fast food restaurant, and when Dierker arrived, detectives arrested him, according to the release.

Detectives seized Dierker's cellphone and two computers. He was living in Columbia at the time, but he has since moved to Omaha, Neb., according to the release.
