Herbert “Gene” Blank, 87, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014.
He was born January 8, 1927, in Boonville, Missouri to the late Herbert Raymond and Iva Lucille (Waller) Blank. He married Lou Earlene Selsor on March 17, 1949, in Lamar, Missouri. From 1954 to 1958, Gene proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He owned and operated Herb’s Trucking in Boonville, Missouri for a decade. His family was of the utmost importance to him.
There will be a visitation from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lou Earlene; children: Herbert Blank Jr., (wife, Karen) of Muncie, IN, and Linda Kelley (husband, Pat) of Columbia, MO; siblings: Johnny Blank of Clinton, MO, Kay Earls of Boonville, MO, and Carl Blank (wife, Charlene) of Columbia, MO, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bud, two sisters, Ann and Erma, and his parents.
