Walter Raymond Mountjoy, 89, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014.

He was born July 13, 1924, in Columbia, Missouri, to the late Mary Paulina (Hazell) and Harold Willett Mountjoy. On June 6, 1948, he married Montie Belle Freeland in Columbia, Missouri. Walter worked as an electrician for three decades at Casteel’s Electric. He was known for his musical abilities, playing the banjo, singing and entertaining at the Senior Center and Parks and Recreation. For 58 years, he was a member of Wilkes Blvd United Methodist Church. Walter was involved in several organizations, including IOOF, American Legion, IBEW and VFW.

There will be a visitation at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, with funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Walter is survived by his loving wife, Montie Belle; four children: David Ray Mountjoy (wife, Laura) of Kansas City, Missouri, John T. Mountjoy (wife, Sunida) of Thailand, Mary Dee Pauley (husband, Gary) and Christina Jane Pudenz (husband, Kerry), both of Columbia, Missouri; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
