Melissa Lowary helps Hickman track to 9th place in Ladue

COLUMBIA — Hickman senior Melissa Lowary soared over a bar 10 feet 6 inches off the ground to win the pole vault competition at the Ladue Invitational on Saturday.

Twenty-three girls teams competed at the Invitational, and Lowary helped lead Hickman to a ninth place finish.

Fellow Kewpie Mikayla Logan finished second in the long jump, with a mark of 17 feet 8 inches.

In the 4x400 relay, Brooke Bassett, Alycia Solomon, Danni Nichols and Loren Brooks finished fourth with a time of 4 minutes, 14 seconds.

Brooks also impressed in the open 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.51, which was good enough for eighth place.

In the 4x100 relay, Kiona Hughes, Ebony Kimmins, Solomon and Bassett finished sixth with a time of 51.9 seconds.

The Kewpie boys also competed at Ladue, finishing 24th out of 26 teams.

Andrew Pieper finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.41 seconds, and Ben Zars finished eight in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 40 seconds.

The Kewpies' next competition will be on their home turf. The Hickman Relays will be held Tuesday, beginning at 4 p.m.
