Columbia man shot in Fulton on Saturday night

COLUMBIA — A 57-year-old Columbia man was shot during an attempted armed robbery Saturday night in Fulton, according to a news release from the Fulton Police Department.

Officers found the man at Carver Park with a gunshot wound after responding to a report of shots fired just before 8:30 p.m. Witnesses told police the shooting was related to an attempted robbery, according to the release.

The victim was airlifted to a Columbia hospital, but the release did not specify which one.

Fulton police would not provide additional information, such as the victim's name and what prompted the robbery. Police are encouraging anyone with leads on the ongoing investigation to contact the Fulton Police Department at 592-3100.
