GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The No. 15 Missouri softball team beat No. 3 Florida 5-4 in the rubber-match Game 3 to take the series Sunday in Gainesville, Fla. The Tigers are now 38-13 overall and 14-7 in Southeastern Conference play.

Junior shortstop Corrin Genovese propelled Missouri at the plate with a first-inning grand slam. Freshman pitcher Casey Stangel added a solo home run in the top of the second inning to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead.

The Gators, however, fought back. They scored three runs on no hits in the bottom of the second on a walk with the bases loaded, a run scored on a wild pitch and a run scored on a passed ball.

Florida added one more in the fifth inning with another run resulting from a walk with the bases loaded, bringing the score to 5-4 in Missouri's favor.

Freshman pitcher Tori Finucane earned the win in the circle for the Tigers, pitching seven innings with ten strikeouts and seven hits allowed.

Missouri returns to Columbia for a doubleheader against Creighton beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday at University Field.
