Students 'Wobble' their way onto dance floor at Hickman prom

Sunday, May 4, 2014 | 6:00 a.m. CDT
Students were initially reluctant to dance at Hickman High School's prom on Saturday at the Expo Center. The prom's these was Midnight in Paris.

COLUMBIA — Paper stars hung from the ceiling as a colored spotlight cast a blue glow on the empty dance floor.

As the evening got underway, couples milled around the edge of the room reluctant to dance. Some drank water from clear plastic cups, while others took self portraits in front of a cutout of the Eiffel Tower illuminated by a spotlight.

The theme for Hickman High School's 2014 prom was "Midnight in Paris," and the annual event was held at the Holiday Inn Expo Center on Saturday evening.

Although students were tentative to dance at first, the song "Wobble," by rapper V.I.C., finally broke the ice as students flocked to the dance floor to get the party started.
