Carl Sartain loved to fish, hunt

COLUMBIA — Carl Eugene Sartain enjoyed fishing and hunting, but he loved spending time with family most of all.

Carl Sartain of Columbia died Wednesday, May 7, 2014. He was 79.

He was born Jan. 17, 1935, in Fayette to Marvin and Helen (Childers) Sartain.

For 30 years, Mr. Sartain worked as a manager with Temple Stephens Dairy in Moberly. He later accepted a position at Central Dairy in Jefferson City, where he worked until his retirement.

He was a member of Discovery Church and was also involved with the church's day care for 20 years.

Mr. Sartain is survived by his wife, Annie; two sons, Jerry and his wife, Debbie, and Patrick and his wife, Ginger; a daughter, Melissa Wassmann, and her husband, Jared; three sisters Sarah, Peggy and Janice and her husband, Sam; two brothers, Dean and his wife, Jackie, and David and his wife, Sandy; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Two daughters and two brothers-in-law died earlier.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will follow immediately after at the same location. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, 763-855 Pearl St., Macon, Mo.
