James Hofmann, 74, was a homebuilder and farmer

COLUMBIA — James Hofmann loved farming, especially raising and taking care of his cattle. He enjoyed traveling, hunting and dining with family and friends. 

James Hofmann of Columbia died Saturday, May 10, 2014. He was 74. 

He was born Oct. 27, 1939, in St. Louis to the Rev. and Mrs. E.L. Hofmann. 

Mr. Hofmann married his wife, Carol, in 1963. He worked as a homebuilder and served as president of the local homebuilders association. 

Mr. Hofmann was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Rotarian. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol; a daughter, Hillary Seematter and her husband, David, a son, Hunter Hofmann and his wife, Betsy; grandchildren, Alexandria, Lauren, Chase, Ava, Keene and Claire; and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, 1601 N. Garth Ave. Services will follow at the same location. Interment will be in Columbia Cemetery, 30 E. Broadway.
