Ronald Tate enjoyed time with grandchildren, hunting and fishing

COLUMBIA — Ronald E. Tate of Fayette died Monday, May 19, 2014. He was 66.

Ronald E. TateHe was born Feb. 10, 1948, in Fulton to Melvin and Roseanna (Perry) Tate. He married Nelia Basa in Las Vegas on June 7, 1993.

Mr. Tate was a postal worker for the United States Postal Service for 32 years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed baseball and football. His other hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening. Mr. Tate was proud of his grandchildren, and he enjoyed spending time with them.

Mr. Tate is survived by his wife, Nelia Tate; a son, John Lee Tate and his wife, Kelley, of Rocheport; a stepdaughter, Joselyn Staley and her husband, Michael, of Columbia; a brother, Melvin Tate, of Fulton; a sister-in-law, Beverly Tate, of Mexico, Mo.; two grandchildren, Michaela Staley and Kaitlyn Grace Tate; and many nieces and nephews.

His brother Gary Tate and his parents died earlier.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
