Columbia police investigate shooting on Garth Avenue

COLUMBIA — A 33-year-old man was shot northwest of downtown Columbia Friday night, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

Officers arrived at the intersection of Oak Street and Garth Avenue at 8:23 p.m. after receiving calls from people who reported hearing gunshots and a man saying he had been shot, according to the news release. The man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital.

The investigation is ongoing, and there was no suspect information or description yet, according to the news release.
