COLUMBIA — The Missouri Tigers women's tennis team announced the addition of Beatriz Machado Santos to the team Tuesday.

Machado Santos, from Lisbon, Portugal, played at Texas Tech during the 2013-14 season. The addition will help the Tigers fill in spots left by departing seniors Rachel Stuhlmann and Cierra Gaytan-Leach.

Machado Santos went 10-6 in doubles and 16-5 in singles competition last year. Before coming to the U.S., Machado Santos was the Portuguese Under-18 national singles champion for the U18 national team, according to the news release. Machado Santos also won national doubles titles in U12, U14 and U16 competitions and was a 2012 doubles regional champion.

The Tigers will be looking to improve next year as the team went 9-21 (1-12 SEC) during the 2013-14 season.
