COLUMBIA — Paige Lowary, an incoming freshman for Missouri softball, was recognized Thursday as the Gatorade Iowa Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, according to a news release.

Lowary pitched a 27-2 record at Dallas Center-Grimes High School this past season and struck out 244 batters through 191 innings pitched. She also had a .424 batting average with five home runs and 24 RBIs.

She has been recognized as the Iowa Girls' Athletic Coaches Association's pitcher of the year three times.

Lowary will join a young corps of pitchers with Tori Finucane and Jordan Zolman, who just finished their freshman years.
